The Recovery Project, Cromwell
Purposeful care. Long-term thinking. Real results.
The Recovery Project is a modern healthcare and rehabilitation clinic based in Cromwell, Central Otago, supporting people with back pain, hip pain, sports injuries, and long-term movement issues.
We were created to bridge the gap between traditional allied health and strength training. Instead of chasing symptoms or relying on short-term fixes, we focus on understanding the why behind pain and building the physical capacity needed for long-term change.
Our approach blends hands-on care where appropriate with exercise-based rehabilitation, education, and progressive strength training. The goal is not just to feel better, but to move better, train with confidence, and stay well over time.
Why Choose The Recovery Project
Choosing the right clinic matters. Here’s what sets us apart:
We don’t chase pain, we build capacity
Pain is rarely the real problem. We focus on improving strength, movement, and tolerance so your body can handle life, work, and sport again, not just calm symptoms temporarily.
Strength-led, not passive-only care
Hands-on treatment can be useful, but it is not the end goal. We use movement and strength as core tools for recovery, because resilient bodies are built, not adjusted into place.
Clear plans, not vague reassurance
You’ll leave sessions knowing what’s going on, what we’re working on, and why. No fluff, no endless “see how it feels”, just clear direction and progression.
Long-term pathways, not quick fixes
We support people beyond the injury phase. That might mean returning to running, lifting confidently, managing a persistent condition, or staying strong long term.
Calm, honest, and supportive care
We are direct, but not intimidating. You’ll be challenged when needed, supported throughout, and treated like a capable adult who wants to understand their body.
Who We Work With
We work best with people who are ready to take an active role in their health, including those dealing with:
Persistent or recurring back and hip pain
Sports injuries and return-to-training rehabilitation
Running-related injuries and strength for runners
Women wanting to build strength, confidence, and resilience
People who have relied on hands-on treatment for years without lasting results
